How To Hang Pinch Pleat Curtains

• Lay the curtain face down on a clean flat surface.
• Work out approximately the correct distance from the top of the curtain to put the hook. Note; you can adjust it latter. If hanging from curtain poles you want the curtain to hang under the pole itself. If hanging from curtain track you want the curtain sit in front of the track.
• Insert the hook into the curtain slightly to one side of the pinch pleat (see photo above). Make sure that the hook pierces both the immediate material and the inner stiffening material. Some people insert the hook through the stitching that holds the pinch pleat together, but in our opinion doing this runs the risk of the stitching coming apart over time. Push the hook end all the way in so that only the hook is visible.
• Insert a few hooks and then hang the curtain whilst holding the rest of the curtain. Check that the curtains top and bottom positions are correct. It is likely that once the curtains are ‘fully relaxed’ and have been hanging a few weeks they will hang a few centimetres lower.
• Once you are happy with the position of the curtain hooks take the curtain down and insert the rest of the curtain hooks at the same distance from the top of the curtains. There will now be a hook at each pleat.



• Add a hook to the outer edge of each of the curtains (see photo above). On both inner edges ideally add two hooks close together (see photo below), this will help spread the force when the curtain is opened and closed.



• Before hanging the curtains ensure that the number of hooks equals the number of curtain gliders or rings.
• Hang the curtains starting from the middle working outwards. This will allow you to add extra curtain rings or gliders if you are short without having to take the curtains down.
